Parksville Septic Systems

How Much Does a Septic System Cost in the Parksville Area?

Parksville Septic Systems prices a new septic system from about $15,000 for a straightforward Type 1 up to $45,000 or more for a Type 2 on a difficult site, and we quote a Type 3 on its own; tank pumping runs around $250 to $500 and inspections around $300 to $700. What you actually pay comes down to the type of system, your soil, how high the winter water table climbs, how easily we can get equipment in, and whether we're building new or fixing what's there. No two lots price the same, so we give you an accurate figure after an on-site assessment.

What drives septic cost

The type of system is the biggest number in the whole job. A Type 1 on ground that drains — just a tank and a drain field — costs far less than a Type 2 or a Type 3 carrying treatment gear. After that it's your soil and how fast it takes water, how high the winter water table climbs, whether we can get a machine in, how big the tank and the field have to be, and the setbacks we have to clear. Every job also carries the soil evaluation, the design and the filing, billed as one item. Below we've broken out general ranges for each type of system and each service.

New system vs. replacement or repair

Build a system from nothing and you're at the top of the range. Replace a failed drain field and you land in the middle. Swap a part — an effluent filter, a baffle, a pump — and you start from about $500. Pumping the tank is the smallest cheque you'll write and the one you'll write most often, and it's what keeps you off the other three.

Why quotes vary

Two quotes on the same address can come out different, and usually it's for real reasons. One of us designed it differently. The other allowed for more digging, or for putting the yard back afterwards. We may have specified a different tank or a different treatment unit, or reckoned differently on getting a machine down the driveway. Out on the acreages around Coombs and Errington, and on the low wet lots near French Creek, there's simply more design in the job than on a sandy lot that drains.

What to have ready for a quote

Have these to hand and we can quote you quicker and closer to the mark: the property address or the PID, any Island Health records or an as-built for an older system, how many bedrooms the house has, where the water comes from (a well or the town), roughly how big the lot is, and anything we should know about getting a machine in. The soil and the water table we work out ourselves when we come.
